Benefits for New Zealand car park
Use of PT concrete improves user-experience while saving materials, time and costs

The Sylvia Park Shopping Centre in Auckland had become so popular with shoppers that a new architecturally sympathetic car park was soon required. The BBR Network’s post-tensioned solution has now delivered a visually stunning building - while saving materials, costs and programme.
To ensure the best possible outcome, BBR Contech worked with Australian BBR Network partner Structural Systems and project design consultant Buller George Turkington to develop a solution that met New Zealand seismic protection standards.
The result is a post-tensioned elevated structure with band beams, created in 20 separate 1,000 m2 pours. Slab integrity reduces water ingress and thus long-term maintenance - and the PT solution also delivered a structure which was lower in height, yet had a reduced ramp incline.
